Titicaca Lake Tour
Programme: 4 days / 3 nights
Enjoy your trip to the south side of the world's highest lake. Puno was the most important place of the pre Inca period, Visit Tiahuanaco, the highest expression of ancient Aymara people which archaeological remains cause admiration. According to the legend the first Incas, Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo his wife, departed from Lake Titicaca with the mandate of their father the Sun God to found the Tawantinsuyo empire which was divided into four regions, occupying Puno the Collasuyo Inca region which stretched across the Collao plateau. Upon Spaniards arrival into Cusco (mid-sixteenth century), they learned of the vast mineral wealth of this region, especially in gold and silver. Around 1660 bloody struggles took place for possession of rich mines in this area.
Day 1: Juliaca and Puno Reception and transfer to your chosen hotel a coca tea welcome and accommodation in your hotel to spend the night (not including dinner)
Day 2: Lake Titicaca and Uros, Amantani and Taquile Islands Breakfast. Early exit to visit the floating Uros Islands, a set of large floating islands of Totora, where residents of Lake Urus continue to live as their ancestors, maintaining their customs. They’re descendants of the ancient Puquina's, other race than Aymaras and Quechuas; now they speak two languages. Moving on to the island of Amantani where we can experience the beauty of the island and its inhabitants customs. Overnight stay at a home with a local family (Included lunch and dinner).
Day 3: Lake Titicaca and Taquile Island Breakfast. Early exit to visit Taquile Island, an island of great scenery and cultural history very famous for its fine textiles and where it is normal to see its inhabitants weaving while walking, they speak quechua and are very friendly to visitors. Back at the scheduled time to the hotel in Puno and spend the night (includes lunch)
Day 4: Puno - Departure Breakfast. Transfer to the airport or train station.
