Itinerary

Day 01: INCA TRAIL: CUSCO – KM 82 – HUAYLLABAMBA

We will pick you up from your hotel at approximately 6:00 a.m. with our mobility and then we drive to Piskakucho (2700 masl), known as Km 82 through the train route from Cusco to Machu Picchu. In this way we start our walk from the control post of the bridge and walk along the left side of the Urubamba River that flows towards the northwest of the Sacred Valley.

After passing through some flat terraces, we arrive at Miskay (2,800 masl) to continue our trek uphill and finally see the Inca City of Patallacta (2,750 masl), we will continue our journey along the valley road created by the Kusichaca River and go little a little until we reach our first camp Huayllabamba (3,000 masl) where we will have the most spectacular views of the Urubamba River.

On the opposite side of the Urubamba River you can see the impressive snow-capped La Verónica (5,832 masl) and the incalculable biodiversity of flora and fauna that can be found on the site.

Day 02: INCA TRAIL: HUAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PACAYMAYU

After a good breakfast, we are ready to continue our walk (considered the strongest of the trip), consisting of a narrow climb and near the cliffs (9 km).

Throughout this climb the landscape will be modified to the Sierra Puna (dry area with little vegetation and high). This will be the route to reach the first pass of the mountain known as Abra Warmihuañuska (Passage of the dead woman), where we can see llamas and domestic alpacas grazing in Ichu (one of the few plants that grow at this height).

We will also cross through an area of ​​forest inhabited by different kinds of animals such as: sparrows, hummingbirds, partridges and Andean bears.

For this route we recommend bringing lime candies, chocolates and coca leaves in order to maintain high sugar levels and control your glycerin level in altitude.

Immediately after the pass we will descend to the valley of Pacaymayu (3,600 m.s.), where we will camp after 6 hours of walking. It is there where we will have our dinner and then be able to rest until the next day.

Day 03: INCA TRAIL: PACAYMAYU – CH’AQICOCHA – WIÑAHUAYNA

Very early after taking our breakfast in Pacaymayu we will continue to the second step; At the junction of Runcurakay (3,970 m.s.), at midmorning we will visit the archaeological complex of the same name, this site is at 3,800 m.s., is a small oval structure that is incorporated as a place of surveillance (Surveillance Tower).

After passing through the pass we will descend to Yanacocha (Laguna Negra); and enter the cloud forest, jungle edge and finally we will reach Sayacmarca (3,624 m.s.). This is a beautiful complex; Composed of a semicircular building with different levels, narrow streets, liturgical fountains, patios and irrigation channels. Throughout our tour we can appreciate the magnitude of the ancient art of the Incas and see the rocks that were placed in perfect order.

We will continue our walk through an Inca tunnel and reach one of the complete and preserved archaeological complexes and that is the highest point of the mountain (third step); The Phuyupatamarca pass (3,700 masl) which means “The cloud over the city”, where we can observe complex and sophisticated water sources with a solid base and with impressive views of the Urubamba River, after that walk we will reach Wiñayhuayna (2,700 meters above sea level) ).

In this place we will find a country house with a restaurant, rooms with bathroom and hot shower. Five minutes from the campsite in Wiñayhayna archaeological complex consisting of an agricultural center with numerous terraces and religious city.

Day 04: INCA TRAIL: WIÑAYHUAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

This day we will get up at 4:00 a.m. for very early leave Wiñayhuayna and start our journey and reach the Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol or sunrise). The tour will take us about an hour, and then we will walk on flat stones that are on the edge of the mountain, where we can see the sunrise over the city of Machu Picchu.

From Intipunku we will descend to Machu Picchu in an average of 40 minutes. When we arrive at Machu Picchu we have a guided tour of approximately two hours.

After the guided tour we will have free time to walk and take some pictures and / or climb the mountain Huayna Picchu; from where you can see spectacular views of valleys and mountains that surround the citadel of Machu Picchu or also visit the Temple of the Moon and the famous Inca Bridge.

In the afternoon we will go down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can visit the thermal baths to relax after 4 days of walking. then we will go to the train station to return to the city of Ollantaytambo and / or Poroy station.

Upon arrival we will be waiting for you with our mobility to transfer you to the city of Cusco, culminating our wonderful tour.
