Cusco Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
Schedule 8 Days / 7 Nights
Transfer to your Hotel, morning free. 1:00pm. City Tour: visit to Inca archaeological and Colonial sites like the Cathedral, the Korikancha and Temple of the Sun, the Sacsayhuaman archaeological site including, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.
2nd Day: Tour to the Incas Sacred Valley
At 08:30am. We will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Pisaq, where you can buy and bargain at the typical Indian market. Then we will climb up to the archaeological park (Intihuatana) and admire its agricultural center. After that we will drive along attractive towns like Lamay, Calca and Urubamba and walk on the streets of the Inca city of Ollantaytambo. 3:00 pm. Return to Cusco via the Chinchero road and we'll stop and visit the Indian handycraft market and Colonial church. Arrival at your hotel in Cusco.
3rd DAY: CUSCO - 82Km - HUAYLLABAMBA
At 07:30am. our guide will pick you up from your hotel to take you to 82Km. where we will arrive at approximately 10:30am. Here we will meet the support team that will travel along with us (porters and cooks.). Today the trek will be quite easy, with a beautiful view of the snow-capped peak Veronica during the first kilometres, and along the shores of the Vilcanota River towards the archaeological site of Patallacta. There we will have lunch to restore our strength and continue to Huayllabamba, our first camp for the night.
4th DAY: HUAYLLABAMBA - PACAYMAYO
Our second day of trekking begins
right after a strengthening breakfast. This will be the hardest
day since we will have to climb up to 4200 masl, to
Warmihuañusca Pass, where we'll enjoy a view of the mountain
range . After lunch we'll begin our descent to the Pacaymayu
Valley, our second campsite.
Early in the morning, just after a 30 minute trek, we will arrive to the archaeological site of Runcuracay. The original Inca trail begins at this point, a 2 meters wide well preserved stone-paved road, where the high quality of the Inca architecture can be observed. We will visit the beautiful architectonic complex of Sayacmarka; after passing through a natural stone tunnel, we will arrive to the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarka. Our descent begins along a very interesting road surrounded by dense vegetation, very rich in flora and fauna. After 2 hour trekking we will arrive at Wiñayhuayna, our third campsite.
6th DAY: WIÑAYHUAYNA MACHU PICCHU CUSCO
We'll begin hiking very early in the morning arriving at Intipunku, the (Sun Gate) around mid morning to a remarkable panoramic viewpoint of the Inca citadel under the first sunlights. From there we will descend to Machu Picchu, for a very detailed explanation from our guide about this important Inca complex.
Later we will descend to Aguas Calientes village to board the train that will take us back to the city of Cusco.
7th Day: CUSCO FREE DAY
Accommodation in hotel. Evening free.
8th Day: CUSCO LIMA
Early after breakfast and according to your flight schedule, we’ll transfer you to the airport.
